Dr. Tony's School of Optometry, a teaching and training institution under the charitable trust, STF Charities, is run by Dr. Ton'y Fernandez Eye Hospital, Aluva. Dr. Tony's School of Optometry is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur (KUHS) for the B.Sc.Optometry course from 2017. It offers the Bachelor of Science in Optometry (B.Sc. Optometry), an undergraduate, full time paramedical course, of 4 yrs duration which includes a 1 year internship. There are 30 students per academic year.
Optometry is a health care profession that deals with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of eye diseases and disorders of the visual system. It includes the science of eye equipment (including lenses and spectacles).
